Developers Seminars

Presented by Educational Resources, the one-day seminar will provide an overview of the development process, including site selection tools, conducting effective due diligence, getting control of the property, getting the project approved, selecting and working with a contractor, construction budgeting, acquiring financing, as well as the all important financial feasibility decision. The program will also provide information on zoning, owning and managing Self-Storage projects.

Several new dynamics are converging to transform the way professional real estate developers and investors must operate to achieve financial goals and increase the bottom line consistently. Capital markets are opening up, providing an attractive alternative to traditional private funding. Global real estate markets and current trends in design and planning are offering new opportunities for growth. At the same time, tapping the new capital markets imposes new, extensive ownership and management requirements—transforming an industry accustomed to “if you build it they will come” to a highly competitive environment. To provide insight into how to evaluate and adjust to these changes in order to maximize investment returns, Educational Resources, in association with it’s strategic partner alliances, has developed a cutting edge Self-Storage executive education seminar for Self-Storage projects.

The developers seminar is designed to provide novice developers to experienced owners, REIT officers, senior executives, and their service providers with the knowledge, frameworks, and tools to evaluate and optimize new local and global Self-Storage opportunities, development financing, capital allocation, portfolio management, and organizational change. Within the context of current economic, competitive political, regulatory and environmental constraints, participants will learn how to manage complex projects, successfully grow their real estate portfolios, and continually evolve as industry leaders.

The objective of this seminar is to introduce the basic concepts and tools used by real estate developers, investors, lenders, and public sector officials to analyze the financial feasibility of Self-Storage real estate developments. Specifically, the seminar integrates financial theory and investment principles with contemporary real estate practice.

The seminar has been designed to provide those both with and without a strong financial background with the "nuts and bolts" training they need to effectively communicate with experienced real estate professionals. Although no prior background in finance is required, reading materials and case studies can be made available to attendees in advance and each attendee will be expected to have read and prepared such materials.

In addition to the intensive introduction to real estate finance, the course will also include case studies and sessions with Self-Storage industry experts who will share their experiences and expertise.
